Bitter sweet endings....

This picture was taken after everyone was successfully thrown into the pool!

Tonight at our favorite taco place!
Ya-ya with the girls.

Tomorrow will be a bitter-sweet day for us.  We have decided to cut our trip a few weeks short due to all the fuss regarding the swine flu.   We have not been terribly concerned for our health, but find it to be in our best interest to head home.  School has been cancelled until the 11th- can't really be in public places, and we really have accomplished everything that we set out to do on this trip.  We have had an amazing time here in Mexico-  a time that will be full of memories, eternal friendships and lasting impressions.  We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with the Cors family.  They will forever be family in our minds and hearts.  I will fly home in the morning with the girls and our manly men will make the long drive without us.  Our plan is to continue homeschooling the kids since the end of the year is so near-  I will return to work on June 2nd so I can have a few more weeks to focus on school-work with the kids and get settled into our old/new routine.  We will miss the Cors family terribly but look forward to being with friends and family and the comforts of home.

B is 13!

B with her favorite dad!

Today is Brittan's 13th birthday!  I can hardly believe it!  13 yrs ago was one of the best days of my life.  I remember the day that she was born and thinking to myself (and out loud of course) just how incredibly beautiful she was.  To this day- I still have the same thoughts.  Brittan is beautiful in so many ways.... she is the 2nd mother in our home (some think she is nicer than the 1st) she is kind, caring, loving and forgiving.  She loves to read, read and read some more.  The biggest parenting challenge we have with her is to know when to put her book down! She is loyal, honest, respectful and very helpful!  We love this girl!!!

Ixtapa/Manzanillo

Michael making friends with the locals.
This was our view on our drive between Ixtapa and Manzanillo.
Britt mastered her dive on this trip!
Do we look tired?

After 4 wonderful days in Acapulco with Ruben and family, we headed to Ixtapa.  We lounged by the pool, ate wonderful food and spent a lot of time playing in the ocean!  We debated the drive to Manzanillo (another 6 hours) but decided that we wanted to see as much of Mexico as possible.   While we were there we learned about the swine flu outbreak in Mexico City-  Yikes!  We returned to Veracruz last night.  We had to go right through Mexico City to get back to Veracruz-  We paid a taxi to escort us through the city as quickly as possible.  The city was like a ghost town!  The people that we did see had face masks on.  Really creepy!

Happy Birthday Uncle Tim!

This picture is of Uncle Tim in our hotel room when we visited with him at Disney!  Not a great picture, but one that I happen to have!  We love you Tim!

Mexico City!

Michael's brother Ruben Cors has been an excellent host! Mexico city has 22 million people and impossible to drive through.  Ruben was kind enough to arrange for his driver to meet us at the edge of the city to guide us to their home on the other side of the city.  His driver helped us for two days to navigate our way around this crazy city.

We visited Teotihuacan - which includes the pyramid of the Sun - the largest pyramid in the western hemisphere.  It was absolutely incredible. Getting to the top in 95 degree heat was hard for everyone - but even the little girls powered through!

Through happy circumstance - Michael's youngest Mexican brother (Andreu) was in town for business so we were all able to go to dinner with him.

We love the Mexican lifestyle and people and are so grateful to Ruben and his wife Adriana for making Mexico City great. FYI: Getting out of the city on our way to Acapulco took 2 hours 45 minutes - just to get out of that massive city!

Salsa lessons

One of the things that I wanted to accomplish here in Mexico was dance lessons!  What better place to learn right?  I am proud to say that I had my first Salsa lesson last night!!!  Michael has been out of town for two weeks so I had to dance with the instructor!   Salsa is a stretch for me since I don't exactly consider myself a dancer!   My hips don't move the way they are supposed to, but I had a blast trying!
